IT Band Roll To Prevent Knee Pain
Some runners experience pain in their knee from a condition called iliotibial band syndrome, or IT band syndrome. This is caused by a tightness in the IT band, and can be alleviated by using a foam roller as shown in this video. This only makes the pain worse as the pain is actually toxins caught inyour muscles ….
I’d stay away from anything hard like a metal tube or a rolling pin. If you use stuff like that, you may run the risk of bruising or hurting yourself.
Stick with the foam rolls that you can find in good fitness stores and some department stores. They are just the right density. If you are massaging a smaller area, a racquetball or tennis ball is also a decent choice.
Hope that helps some.
How often should this be done? I found a hard cardboard tube of 3″ and rolled on it. It hurt like hell in the areas where there’s a lot of tension. The tube is as hard as a metal tube. Does the hardness have any effect on the health of IT Band?
thanks man
No problem. Glad it’s helpful.
